Well, it says that the car is all-new. Despite 1,800 new parts, it’s really more of a facelift than a completely new effort.
What about the engines?
In line with the tweaks theme, the engine range is the same as what was available before, but with a few improvements aimed at emissions and economy.
The units are all Euro 6 compliant, in line with September’s new regulations, and include the 1.2-liter 70ps petrol four and the 0.9-liter two-cylinder TwinAir petrol in 86ps and 106ps tunes available at launch.
Is that it?
Actually it isn’t: a 1.3-liter 16V Multijet II turbodiesel with 96ps and 89g/km CO2 (a 6g/km drop) will be arriving later, after the September on-sale date, along with an eco version of the 1.2 petrol that comes with a smart alternator, aero tweaks and low rolling resistance tires that will nudge CO2 emissions below 99g/km.
Along with detail changes to the styling and interior, Fiat hopes that the changes will be enough to keep pace with the (definitely) all-new Mini Hatch that went on sale last year.
