Liverpool, UK-based technology company EV Range Extender has discussed development of its new Microengine RangeX engine technology. It is hoped that the technology will aid the UK’s transition to EVs by removing range anxiety.
Developed with support from LCR 4.0 and Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU), the main aim for the project was to develop a range extender that automatically starts up and continuously charges an EV.
In addition, the company plans to put the engine technology through rigorous simulation testing, with the resulting test data used to optimize the technology further and ensure best performance.
Anthony Walker, LJMU strategic manager, LCR 4.0 said, “Working with EV Range Extender has been a great experience for all parties, it now has a fully functional working product that is close to being market ready.”
Jonathan Quinn, founder of EV Range Extender, added, “We predict that by 2023 we’ll be able to employ around 250 staff. We’re even looking to incorporate autonomous robotic equipment as part of our longer-term growth plans, which is extremely exciting when it comes to future production capabilities.”
