Uprated by the Brabus powertrain engineers with the PowerXtra B40S-800 performance upgrade, the 4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine at the heart of the Brabus 800 generates 811ps and peak torque of 1,000Nm.
The upgrade in power is thanks to modifications to the engine hardware, including the turbocharging system. Two newly designed Brabus high-performance turbochargers with a larger compressor unit and modified core assembly with reinforced axial bearing produce a greater maximum boost pressure of 1.6 bar.
Brabus also reprogramed the electronic engine control unit to recalibrate the boost-pressure control and further optimize the power delivery without impairing the durability. To achieve this, the company conducted extensive testing on stationary engine test benches as well as conducting road tests on track and in traffic.
This results in an increase in output of 161ps and a 100Nm bump in maximum torque, meaning that the four-door coupe will hit 100km/h in 2.9 seconds from rest and reach an electronically limited top speed of 315 km/h.
The uprated powerplant is paired to a Speedshift 9-speed sports transmission. The gears can be shifted automatically or manually with the ergonomic Brabus Race aluminum paddle shifters on the steering wheel. The top speed is electronically limited to 315 km/h (196mph).
