Automotive supplier Schaeffler has appointed former BMW executive Dr Jochen Schröder to lead the group’s newly established e-mobility division. The 46-year-old will oversee the development of EV components and systems.
Schröder, who will assume his new position on April 1, enjoyed a successful 15-year career at BMW, holding various positions in areas such as electric system design, advanced engineering of electric drivetrains and vehicle energy management.
“We are very pleased to welcome Dr Schröder to our company,” said Matthias Zink, CEO Automotive OEM, Schaeffler. “We are sure that his years of experience in the different fields of electric mobility will provide the perfect basis to successfully lead our new e-mobility business division and thus help to actively shape mobility for tomorrow.”
The supplier made the decision in 2017 to establish an independent e-mobility business within its automotive division. The new department will be based in Bühl, Germany, and will provide products and system solutions for hybrid and pure BEV vehicles.
