Aumet has developed a new improved efficiency engine model. The Z-engine from the Finnish company is a hybrid between a two- and four-stroke cycle, using single-fuel RCCI combustion. This concept allows the Z-engine to boast very high efficiency, especially at partial load and with almost zero NOX and particle emissions. Aumet says this is achieved by a high intercooling rate, which lowers the TDC compression temperature of the engine so that no NOX formation can take place. Regardless, Aumet claims fuel consumption comparable to that of a dual-fuel RCCI engine.
