At the 2017 Engine Expo, the must-attend event for everyone involved in powertrain design, development, procurement and production, Gerster will present its new Hard-Inox-S treatment for improved wear and corrosion resistant injectors, using non-magnetic materials.
Hard-Inox is a low temperature diffusion treatment in a gas atmosphere, which can be applied on any type of stainless steel and offers the reduction of wear, fretting and galling. The magnetic properties of the base material will remain unchanged and corrosion resistance remains high.
Hard-Inox means non-magnetic materials remain distortion free with no need for post-processing. It is applicable to any geometry and hardening occurs homogeneously over the entire surface and even in bores. No coating means there is no flaking or spalling and leads to a smooth transition from hard to soft. The hard zone remains very elastic and can even be used on springs, with welding remaining possible.
Hard-Inox-S offers greater freedom of design and enhanced performance for injectors. Gerster has a variety of standard and innovative heat and diffusion treatments to increase the performance of parts.
Gerster can be found at Engine Expo 2017 on stand number 3108.
