HKO Heat Protection Group will be showcasing its specially developed fire barriers for high-voltage battery systems at Engine Expo 2017. The company states that its products are up to 12 times lighter than standard electrical insulation.
Beside the well-known high-temperature insulation for exhaust systems or textile heatshields for engine bays, HKO Heat Protection Group has developed fire barriers for high voltage battery packs. These customized solutions protect against fire caused by thermal runaway in lithium-ion batteries.
Due its outstanding electrical resistance value, the fire retardant multilayer constructions of HKO Heat Protection Group protect against electrical shock while normal operation as well.
Compared to standard electrical insulation material multilayer constructions are, depending on the material combination, 6 to 12 times lighter at 6mm thickness. This new technology meets the specific protection targets perfectly.
HKO Heat Protection Group is a leading pioneering company in the field of thermal insulation and fire protective solutions since more than four decades.
HKO will be at Engine Expo 2017, displaying on stand number 3406.
