The upcoming all-electric variant of the fourth-generation Porsche Cayenne is set to be produced at Volkswagen Slovakia’s multi-brand facility in Bratislava. Following in the footsteps (or tire marks) of the 2019 Macan, and the upcoming 2024 Macan and the 718 in 2025, the new Cayenne will become Porsche’s fourth model that can be selected with an all-electric powertrain.
Building on the success of the third-generation SUV, Porsche has carried out a wide range of upgrades and revisions for the fourth-generation vehicle, including changes to the powertrain, chassis, design, equipment and connectivity.
The OEM’s engineers, based at the Porsche Development Centre in Weissach, Germany, also made major changes to the Cayenne’s chassis system, which will benefit from a semi-active chassis. The upgraded components will ensure the Cayenne delivers a wider range of on-road performance, long-distance comfort and off-road capability.
The painted Cayenne bodies were originally sent to be built in Leipzig, Germany, before Porsche decided to move production to Bratislava in 2017 when the third-generation Cayenne was released. First produced in 2002, the Porsche model has continued to prove popular, with 95,604 of the SUVs being delivered during 2022.
The Slovakian plant is currently being prepared to begin manufacturing the latest-generation Porsche Cayenne.
