Huber+Suhner has launched the Radox HPC500, the world’s first cooled 500A charging cable system.
The HPC500 builds on the HPC400, adding 500A charging, an IP67 connector protection rating, the option of a ready-to-use metering system and replaceable contacts.
A new 24V cooling unit has been developed to increase cooling capacity and reduce operational temperatures of the power lines.
The plug-and-play cooling unit is pre-filled with coolant and fits into existing charging stations, reducing installation time.
Speed of ventilators on the heat exchanger and the coolant pump is automatically adjusted to improve efficiency with normal operating levels requiring lower speed.
The connector weight has been reduced by 20% and cable flexibility has been improved to make the HPC500 easier to handle.
Max Goldi, market manager, industry, Huber+Suhner, said, “The improvements we have made to the complete HPC system make this a truly groundbreaking product which enables continuous charging at 500A for the first time.”
