Karma Automotive has engineered its E-Flex electric platform for pickup trucks. The two motor all-wheel drive and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) platform is the last of five demonstration projects using EREV and battery electric vehicle (BEV) based rolling chassis systems.
It is fitted with Karma’s silicon carbide inverter e-drive system and features an 80kWh flat floor battery.
The platform is targeting an all-electric range of 240 miles and 495 miles when combined with EREV, depending on configuration and commercial application.
Kevin Pavlov, chief operations officer of Karma Automotive, said, “Our AWD Extended Range platform has the longest range and widest configuration of all our E-Flex platforms, allowing for high levels of efficiency and configurability to suit a variety of market needs.”
The E-Flex platform was developed at the Karma Innovation and Customization Center in Moreno Valley, California.
It features technology including production Revero GT drive motors, gearbox, suspension, subframe, steering, battery and electrical systems.
