Skoda has unveiled the Enyaq, which will be the Volkswagen Group’s first electric car produced outside of Germany. The all-electric SUV, which will go into production at the end of 2020, will have a choice of three battery sizes and five power units.
Entry level models will have a rear motor driving the rear wheels, and more powerful versions a second electric motor at the front to transmit torque more efficiently.
The entry Skoda Enyaq iV 50 has a lithium-ion battery with a gross capacity of 55kWh, and a rear-mounted electric motor with an output of 109kW, offering a range of 340km.
The 132kW Enyaq iV 60 is fitted with a 62kWh battery, increasing the range to 390km.
The 150kW, rear-wheel-drive Enyaq iV 80 has a range of 500km, and its 82kWh battery is used in the 80X and vRS with a second electric motor.
It can be charged either using a 230V household plug socket with an AC output of 2.3kW.
The Enyaq can also be topped up overnight at home using a wall box delivering up to 11 kW, or DC fast-charging stations with a charging output of 125kW, recharging the battery from 10% to 80% in 40 minutes.
The new model will be manufactured in Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic, making it the Volkswagen Group’s first modular electric car platform produced outside Germany.
