Onsemi – a provider of intelligent power and sensing technologies – and EV manufacturer Zeekr have signed a long-term supply agreement which will see Onsemi supplying its EliteSiC silicon carbide (SiC) power devices to enhance the powertrain efficiency of Zeekr’s smart EVs. The solution will also enhance performance, improve charging speed and increase range.
Zeekr will adopt Onsemi’s EliteSiC MOSFET, 1,200V, M3E with enhanced electrical and mechanical performance and reliability to support its growing EV range. Advantages of the power devices include enhanced power and thermal efficiency, enabling the size and weight of the traction inverter to be reduced.
Through the long-term supply agreement, both Zeekr and Onsemi will work to develop a stronger supply chain relationship to support the vehicle manufacturer’s growth over the next 10 years.
Zeekr’s first vehicle, the ZEEKR 001, was released in October 2021, and the company has plans to expand rapidly over the next five years. As of April 2023, the OEM has manufactured 100,000 vehicles at its facility in Ningbo, China.
