The new CeTrax lite electric central drive from ZF’s Commercial Vehicle Solutions (CVS) division has entered series production. The driveline solution has been designed and adapted for use within light commercial vehicle (LCV) applications.
The highly integrated electric drive offers a range of benefits, including the ability to support OEMs seeking to deliver zero emission urban and last-mile delivery. To date, CVS has received orders from Asia and the Americas for the CeTrax lite, with production already started in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
Drawing on the company’s experience in developing passenger car technology, the CeTrax lite can be used to support both traditionally fueled internal combustion engine vehicles and OEMs and their respective electrification strategies.
The driveline uses components developed in-house by ZF and is suitable for LCVs weighing up to 7.5 tons. The CeTrax lite has a peak performance output of 150kW and a maximum torque of 1,500Nm. Weighing approximately 120kg, the compact design of the system enables the maximum amount of space for additional electronic components and batteries. Furthermore, the module is a fully integrated system and consists of an electric motor and a 1 speed transmission stage and power electronics.
One of ZF’s first customers for the system is Isuzu which will install the driveline solution into its new ELF EV.
