Headquatered in Yokohama, Japan, Isuzu Motors is set to introduce the company’s first battery-electric vehicle (BEV) D-MAX one-tonne pickup truck to the public at the 45th Bangkok International Motor Show, which will be held March 27 to April 7 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The D-MAX BEV has been developed to meet a broad range of commercial and passenger vehicle needs while retaining the performance expected of pickup trucks.
The full-time 4WD system – with newly developed e-axles in front and rear – is designed for rough road performance. A high towing capacity is also ensured by adopting high-power electric motors and robust frame and body design.
The vehicle features a full-time 4×4 drive system, powered by a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 66.9kWh. It has a maximum output of 130kW, with 40kW from the front motor and 90kW from the rear motor. The maximum torque is 325Nm, distributed as 108Nm from the front motor and 217Nm from the rear motor. With a maximum speed exceeding 130km/h, it can carry a payload of up to 1,000kg and has a towing capacity of 3.5 tons.
Launching in select mainland Europe markets such as Norway in 2025, the D-MAX BEV will be rolled out to the UK, Australia, Thailand and other countries based on market needs and the maturity of EV charging infrastructure.
