The T-Cross, VW’s B-segment SUV, will be manufactured at its Navarra plant in Spain, which also produces the B-segment hatchback Polo. The factory is expected to raise its production from 244,000 to 350,000, increasing its workforce by 10%.
The factory has produced the Polo since 1984 and is now gaining a second model. Both the Polo and the T-Cross use the MQB-A0 platform, which makes producing them side-by-side a logical choice.
Emilio Sáenz, president of the Navarra plant, said, “We very much welcome the production of a second model in Navarra. We are very proud to contribute with our experience to manufacture the T-Cross, a SUV with advanced solutions and technologies from higher classes, which is going to satisfy the requirements and needs of our clients.”
