Bentley has introduced its first plug-in hybrid model, the Bentayga Hybrid. Equipped with a new gasoline 3-liter turbo motor and an e-motor, the latest addition to its line-up is claimed to be the company’s most efficient model ever.
At the heart of the PHEV is a new 3-liter turbocharged V6 gasoline engine. This is paired with a permanent magnet synchronous e-motor that acts as both a motor and a power generator and is capable of generating 129ps peak power and 400Nm of torque.
Thanks to the new drive system, the Bentayga Hybrid has a total driving range of 747km (464 miles) and a WLTP equivalent all electric range of 39km (24 miles) on a single charge. The electric powertrain also provides instant torque response by eliminating engine turbo lag. Bentley claim that the high voltage battery is capable of recharging in just 2.5 hours.
Returning CO2 emissions of 79g/km and fuel consumption of 3.5 l/100km on the WLTP weighted, combined cycle, the Bentayga Hybrid is Bentley’s most efficient model to date.
