Dacia has introduced a new factory-fitted dual-fuel system. The 1-liter turbo engine enables both gasoline and LPG function to deliver reduced fuel costs, lower emissions and improved performance.
The dual-fuel technology enables owners to alternate between running the vehicle on gasoline or LPG via a switch for a combined range of up to 1,000km.
During development of the 1-liter turbo Bi-Fuel 100 engine, engineers worked to enable enhanced torque in LPG mode compared with gasoline, achieving 170Nm and 160Nm with LPG and gasoline respectively.
The main change to vehicle layout is the addition of a high-strength steel LPG tank in place of the spare wheel. Despite the additional fuel tank, boot space remains the same. The adaptation is carried out within Dacia’s factories on the same production line.
“The technology is proven in Dacia products and the new 1-liter Bi-Fuel engine is an impressive piece of engineering which has been developed to fulfil all of the criteria expected of models like the Duster, Sandero and Logan MCV,” explained Luke Broad, head of brand for Dacia UK.
