Japanese OEM Honda has launched its all-new Jazz. Equipped with a hybrid powertrain, the Jazz combines two e-motors with a 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC gasoline engine, and a Li-ion battery.
Paired with a fixed-gear transmission, the powertrain will deliver a total output of 109ps, propelling the Jazz from 0-100km/h in 9.4 seconds and on to a top speed of 173km/h. The hybrid system produces CO2 emissions from 102g/km (WLTP) and fuel economy of 3.74l/100km (WLTP).
To deliver its efficiency during urban driving, the system transitions between EV Drive and Hybrid Drive. When highway driving, Engine Drive is used and supplemented by an on-demand boost from the e-motor for fast acceleration.
The 13,300rpm electric motors were developed in-house to be as lightweight, compact, efficient and power-dense as possible, generating 253Nm of torque for low-speed acceleration.
