French OEM Peugeot has announced that its 508 hybrid and 508 SW hybrid will provide fuel efficiency of up to 1.08 l/100km and CO2 emissions as low as 29g/km. Capable of more than 48km (30 miles) of electric driving, the cars have passed WLTP certification and join Peugeot’s growing plug-in electric hybrid and fully electric vehicle range.
The hybrids combine a 182ps 1.6-liter PureTech gasoline engine with an e-motor on the front axle, for a total power output of 225ps. Both models use an 11.8kWh battery, with a full recharge taking less than two hours with a 7kW onboard charger.
Peugeot’s 508 hybrid and 508 SW hybrid are built on its EMP2 platform. Through clever engineering of the battery pack, the 508 has 48 liters of trunk space, while the SW variant provides 530 liters of load capacity.
David Peel, managing director of Peugeot UK, said, “Peugeot is rapidly embracing an electric future. The all-new 508 Hybrid and 508 SW Hybrid will join our growing line-up of plug-in electric hybrid and fully electric models.
This is an exciting time for Peugeot as the brand works to fulfill its philosophy of ‘Choose your Peugeot, choose your powertrain’, where customers can choose between conventional gasoline and diesel models, as well as electrified variants, which will apply to all models within the range by 2023.”
