Auto makers Renault and Geely have announced an MoU framework agreement that will see the pair cooperating on projects based in the Chinese and South Korean markets, with a focus on hybrid vehicles.
Following the adoption by Geely of an open source strategy for its full vehicle architectures, the company will partner with Renault and through the MoU, both parties will share resources and technologies.
Geely says it will utilize its existing technologies and industrial footprint to support the introduction of Renault-branded hybrid vehicles to the Asian markets. Renault will then contribute to the partnership by producing a branding strategy, channel and service development, alongside defining a customer appropriate journey.
In the South Korean market, the agreement will enable both Renault and Geely to cooperatively explore the localization of vehicles based on Lynk & Co’s energy-efficient vehicle platforms.
