Renault has unveiled its first plug-in hybrid Mégane. Developed by Alliance and Renault engineers, the E-Tech plug-in powertrain combines a 1.6-liter four-cylinder with two electric motors and an innovative multi-mode clutch-less gearbox to produce 160ps.
The design draws on the experience of the Renault Formula 1 Team, which shared its energy-management expertise, and Renault’s EV experts to ensure that the PHEV offers maximum energy efficiency.
Thanks to the 9.8kWh battery at the heart of the powertrain, the Mégane plug-in will travel up to 65km on electric power alone (WLTP). In mixed cycle, the new Mégane E-Tech plug-in emits less than 40g/km of CO2 .
