Ricardo has detailed its role in the three-year development of London’s range-extended electric taxi, the LEVC TX. The UK-based company focused on chassis and powertrain systems, deploying its vehicle attribute-led approach to design and engineering.
The program saw Ricardo develop a unique front suspension system achieving the stringent Transport for London (TfL) maneuverability requirement while delivering on the more conventional ride, handling and NVH attributes.
“Ricardo is proud to have supported Geely and LEVC in the development of the advanced TX range-extended electric taxi,” said Ricardo program management director Graeme Stewart.
“The collaboration between Ricardo and Geely in the area of chassis and powertrain systems demonstrated the strong and effective working relationship between the two organizations and our joint commitment to engineering a better, more environmentally sustainable taxi for London – as well as many other cities around the world.”
