Volvo has extended its third-generation S60 range to incorporate further powertrain choices, including an all-wheel-drive gasoline-electric hybrid.
The existing T5 turbocharged 253ps gasoline unit is joined by the T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid powertrain, combining a 307ps gasoline engine with an 88ps electric motor for a total output of 395ps. This enables a 0-100km/h time of just 4.6 seconds.
The T8 Twin Engine’s 11.8kWh battery provides an electric-only range of up to 58km (36 miles). Carbon dioxide emission levels for the hybrid saloon sit at 39g/km. Fuel economy (on the WLTP combined cycle) is up to 1.3 l/100km.
Like the T5, the T8 Twin Engine uses a Volvo Drive-E gasoline engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission.
