Audi has announced that its new A1 will be initially available with a 116ps 1-liter three-cylinder. Peak torque of 200Nm is available from 2,000 to 3,500rpm, enabling acceleration to 100km/h (62mph) in 9.4 seconds.
Soon after launch, the engine portfolio will increase to include a 95ps entry-level 25 TFSI engine and a 150ps 1.5-liter four-cylinder 35 TFSI with cylinder on demand technology. A 2.0-liter, 200ps TFSI with 320Nm of torque will power the performance-focused flagship model.
All engines in the range will be enhanced through turbocharging, direct injection and a particulate filter, and can be linked to either a manual gearbox or Audi’s 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission, with the exception of the 200ps variant, which is matched to a 6-speed S tronic transmission.
