Cupra has unveiled the specs behind the new Ateca’s 2-liter engine. Developed with power, performance and driveability in mind, the SUV will develop a maximum power output of 300ps between 5,300rpm and 6,500rpm.
The turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine, which has a bore of 82.5mm; stroke of 92.8mm and a compression ratio of 9.3:1, features direct injection and will generate 400Nm of torque across at a wide range of 2,000- 5,200rpm, enabling a top speed of 246km/h.
And thanks to the Cupra Ateca’s mix of low weight – weighing-in at 1,540kg – and high output engine, the SUV can do 0-100km/h in just 5.2 seconds.
Rapid acceleration is aided through the integration of a newly developed seven-speed DSG transmission. Engineered to offer faster, smoother and more precise changes, the system also features launch control for greater acceleration from a standing start.
The seven-speed gearbox has been modified to combine performance with low fuel consumption, while the 1984cc TSI engine works with a newly designed Otto particulate filter system to offer carbon emissions of 168g/km.
