Maranello-based OEM Ferrari has unveiled its latest Coupé, Roma. Delivering 620ps at 7,200rpm, the turbocharged eight-cylinder at the heart of the Roma is derived from the V8 that has won the International Engine of the Year Award four years in a row.
Equipped with variable boost management, the Coupé promises instant throttle response. The team at Ferrari also completely redesigned the exhaust system, adopting gasoline particulate filters, and working on the sound by removing the silencers and introducing new bypass valves.
The turbo eight-cylinder will be mated to a new 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox, which has been designed to be more compact and 6kg lighter than its 7-speed predecessor. As well as reducing fuel consumption and emissions, the new gearbox enables faster and smoother shifts to ensure that the car is responsive on the road.
