Korean OEM Kia has announced that its XCeed crossover utility vehicle will be equipped with three fast-revving, turbocharged engines.
The three-cylinder 1-liter T-GDi engine produces 120ps and 172Nm torque, while the four-cylinder 1.4-liter T-GDi engine produces 140ps and 242Nm torque. The high-power 1.6-liter T-GDi engine, found in the Ceed GT and ProCeed GT, is also available.
With a 204ps power output and 265Nm torque across a broad range of engine speeds, the 1.6-liter T-GDi engine is the most powerful unit to sit under the hood of the XCeed.
Kia also plans to fit the XCeed with two Smartstream power units – the cleanest diesel engines ever produced by the brand, and the most fuel efficient in the range. The 1.6-liter Smartstream engine is offered with either 115ps or 136ps.
The 1.0-litre engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission. While the other engines can be paired with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Low-emissions electrified powertrains, including 48V mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid options, will be launched into the Kia XCeed range in early 2020.
