Mitsubishi has developed a third powertrain option for the Outlander. The new 2.0-liter MIVEC gasoline adds to a range that already includes the OEM’s gasoline plug-in hybrid and turbo diesel models.
The 2.0-liter unit, which produces 150ps and 195Nm of torque, is equipped with a CVT that Mitsubishi claims offers the stepped shifting of a conventional automatic under acceleration while striking a balance between performance, refinement and economy under normal driving conditions.
Enhancements to the driving dynamics have been accomplished with developments in structural rigidity, with additional structural adhesive welding applied between the body panels. Enhancements to the front strut and rear shock absorbers have also been made to increase the damping force at low speed and therefore provide a smoother ride.
