Porsche has debuted its fastest 911 ever. The next generation of flat-six turbocharged engines has been further developed to be more powerful than ever before, delivering 443hp in the S models – 23hp more than the previous model. Using an improved injection process, as well as a new layout for the turbochargers and intercoolers, the efficiency of the engine has been optimized.
Equipped with the 8-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission as standard, the rear-wheel-drive 911 Carrera S Coupe takes 3.5secs to reach 60mph (96km/h) from standstill, and the 911 Carrera 4S Coupe with all-wheel drive takes 3.4secs. This makes both cars 0.4secs faster than the previous model in each case. This time is reduced by a further 0.2secs with the optional Sport Chrono Package, to 3.3secs for the Carrera S and 3.2secs for the Carrera 4S. The top track speeds are now 191mph (911 Carrera S) and 190mph for the all-wheel-drive version. A manual transmission will be offered at a later date.
