Porsche’s latest compact SUV will feature a new 3-liter V6 turbocharged petrol engine with a gasoline particulate filter. Delivering 354ps and a maximum torque of 480Nm, the German OEM has increased the Macan S’s power output by 14ps and 20Nm compared with the previous model.
The Porsche Macan S is now equipped with a newly developed 3.0 liter V6 turbo engine. Using the central turbo layout, the turbocharger is located in the inner V; this results in short exhaust gas paths between the combustion chambers and the turbocharger, to ensure responsiveness.
A new twin-scroll turbocharger provides high torque at low engine speeds. With twin-scroll technology, the exhaust gas flows are continuously fed to the turbine wheel as separate streams, significantly reducing any charge cycle disadvantages.
Further-developed combustion chamber geometry with a central injector promotes efficient fuel mixture preparation. In addition to an increase in power output per liter, from 113ps to 118ps, emissions have also been reduced.
When equipped with the Sport Chrono Package, the Macan S will accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 5.1 seconds, which is 0.1 seconds quicker than the previous model. The vehicle’s top speed is 254km/h (158mph) and its fuel consumption (NEDC-correlated) is 8.9 l/100km.
