Vauxhall has updated its engine line-up for the new Insignia. The engine range features a 1.4-liter, three-cylinder, 147ps gasoline engine and a 1.5-liter, three-cylinder, 123ps diesel; as well as two 2-liter gasolines with 200ps and 230ps. A 2-liter four-cylinder diesel will be introduced later in the year.
The 2-liter gasoline units will be the first Vauxhall engines to feature cylinder deactivation, reducing fuel consumption through the deactivation of two cylinders during periods of low power requirement.
Paired with low-friction gearboxes – either a six-speed manual, or eight- or nine-speed automatic – the Insignia promises comfortable, seamless shifting. Vauxhall claims the new powertrain line-up will also provide an 18% reduction in fuel consumption, as well as CO2 emissions as low as 100g/km on the NEDC cycle.
