German OEM Volkswagen has added another engine option to its T-Cross powertrain line-up. Fitted with the brand’s four-cylinder 1.5-liter turbo engine, the latest variant is the most powerful T-Cross option yet.
Available exclusively with a 7-speed DSG transmission, the 1.5 T-Cross will move from standstill to 100km/h in 8.5 seconds, and will hit a top speed of 199km/h. Despite the increased performance, the auto maker has ensured that economy hasn’t suffered. With the most potent T-Cross returning 6.4l/100km and emitting 118-119g/km of CO2 on the NEDC.
Claire Haynes, T-Cross product manager at VW UK, said:, At Volkswagen, we are committed to making sure we live up to our ‘People’s Car’ name by making a car for everyone. The T-Cross is no different, and those who would like an even more potent engine can now be catered for.”
The new engine will be offered on the SEL and R-Line trims, bringing the number of engine and gearbox configurations for the T-Cross up to a total of six.
