Volkswagen has unveiled an R variant of its T-Roc, marking the first time the R department has worked on an SUV since the Touareg R50 of 2008. The result is a top speed of 250km/h (155mph) and a 4.9-second 0-100km/h acceleration time.
The new performance SUV is equipped with Volkswagen Group’s 300ps EA888 turbocharged 2-liter gasoline engine. VW’s four-cylinder powerplant is paired with a 7-speed DSG transmission.
“With nimble handling and performance car pace, the T-Roc R really is the consummate all-rounder, and represents the best of the past, present and future of Volkswagen R,” added Claire Haynes, T-Roc product manager for Volkswagen UK.
