Volkswagen has introduced its first small SUV, the T-Cross. Based on the modular transverse matrix (MQB), the T-cross will launch with a choice of three turbo gasoline engines and one turbo diesel.
The German OEM’s newest SUV can be fitted with one of two 1-liter TSI three-cylinder gasoline engines, which will generate either 95ps or 115ps.
Alternatively, the T-Cross can be equipped with the auto maker’s 1.5-liter TSI four-cylinder engine with 150ps. Completing the range is a 1.6 TDI four-cylinder engine with 95ps. All engines comply with the Euro 6d-TEMP emission standard.
The new T-Cross is being manufactured at the Volkswagen factory in Navarra, Spain. VW has recently pledged €1bn (US$1.13bn) investment in this plant by 2019.
