Volkswagen has unveiled a concept road version of the international TCR series race car.
Equipped with a turbocharged engine, the GTI TCR has been designed following the doctrine of a pure sports car.
The engine will transmit 370Nm to the front wheels from only 1,600rpm as standard via a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox and a locking differential. The top speed of the standard version is expected to be 250km/h, but this can be increased to 264km/h by opting to remove the electronic Vmax limiter.
Behind the large wheels there is a high-performance braking system with perforated discs meaning deceleration is comparable to the TCR racing car. Two extra radiators have also been added to ensure sufficient cooling for high engine performance.
In addition to removing the Vmax limit, it is possible to boost the specs further through a more dynamic sports chassis and dynamic chassis control (DCC). This means the car will adapt to the characteristics of the electrically adjustable shock absorbers at the touch of a button.
