Volkswagen Group and Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) have finalized their first supply agreement concerning components of VW’s MEB for M&M’s electric platform, INGLO. This agreement includes the supply of specific electric components and unified cells, building upon the companies’ previous partnership and term sheet from 2022.
M&M will be the inaugural external partner to use Volkswagen’s unified cell concept, as part of its battery strategy. The supply agreement will span several years and encompass a total volume of approximately 50GWh.
The aim of the collaboration is to grow the companies’ presence in the Indian automotive market and expedite the region’s electrification efforts. Mahindra plans to introduce five all-electric SUVs in India based on its newly developed electric platform, starting in December 2024.
Volkswagen’s MEB platform and its components are used by various group brands, including Volkswagen, Audi, Škoda and Seat/Cupra, as well as external partners like Ford and Mahindra.
