Bentley Motors has commenced work on a state-of-the-art engineering test facility at the company’s expanding headquarters in Crewe, UK. The new center will include a dedicated Real Driving Emissions lab.
The dedicated Real Driving Emissions (RDE) laboratory will use the latest state-of-the-art portable emissions measurement systems. Also built into the site will be a new home for Bentley’s Technical Conformity department.
With completion due next autumn, the new building will cover more than 4,600m2 over two floors. Included in this figure will be 773m2 of office space and 1550m2 for the installation of a single climate-controlled chassis dynamometer, operating across a range of -10°C to +40°C.
Dr Werner Tietz, member of the board for engineering at Bentley, said, “Our new engineering test facility will further enhance Bentley’s industry-leading, modern, efficient manufacturing plant and allow us to grow as we diversify into hybrid and pure electric cars.”
