The London EV Company (LEVC) will start customer trials of its new electric van in the second half of 2019. The company is in discussions with a number of major public-sector fleets for the London-based trial – including the Metropolitan police and the London Fire Brigade.
LEVC, which currently manufacturers a zero-emission taxi, announced its zero-emissions-capable van earlier this year. Like the taxi, the van combines a fully electric powertrain with a range extender petrol engine.
Rather than being intended for use as a last-mile vehicle, LEVC plans for the van to be used as a fleet-wide vehicle for demanding duty cycles (for example, more than 100 miles of travel in a day).
