Honda has announced that two all-new downsized turbo gasoline engines will be coming to Europe with the next-generation Civic.
The 10th version of the car will be launched in Europe in early 2017, and will feature all-new 1-liter and 1.5-liter VTEC turbo engines that have been developed in Japan.
The new units will be badged as part of Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology range, which was started with the 2-liter VTEC turbo launched in this year’s Civic Type R.
Honda says the engines are based on a completely new structure and use newly developed turbo systems, as well as variable valve motion technology to reduce friction and improve environmental performance.
The new turbochargers have been designed to feature a low moment of inertia and high responsiveness, and combine with direct injection technology to balance between output and torque, the Japanese manufacturer added.
