Detroit Electric’s (DE) first production-spec SP:01 has rolled off the UK assembly line and been delivered to the company’s Chinese distributor, Jowett Motors.
Manufactured at the company’s facility in Leamington Spa, the handover marks DE’s continued expansion and investment in the Asia region.
The SP:01 uses a 210kW electric motor and has been outfitted with 285ps which takes the model from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.9 seconds.
Albert Lam, chairman and chief executive of DE, says, “We are extremely proud to team up with Jowett Motors, a company that has an exceptional track record in the establishment and selling of exclusive, high performance sports cars in the Chinese market.”
Lam added that the partnership with Jowett Motors demonstrates the company’s confidence in progressing in the Asian market and around the world.
DE also said the motor’s military grade high density lithium battery is the most energy-dense automotive battery pack in the world, offering 140Wh/kg.
