The market launch of the new BMW 218i Coupé will see the debut of a three-cylinder petrol engine from the OEM’s latest engine family. The new power unit will feature BMW’s TwinPower Turbo technology, which will boost power output to 132ps and increase maximum torque to 220Nm. The 218i Coupé will accelerate from zero to 100km/h in 8.8 seconds. The vehicle’s top speed will be 209km/h, and BMW is also claiming combined fuel consumption of 5.4l/100km and CO2 emissions of 123g/km.
Furthermore, the 220d Coupé will feature xDrive, BMW’s intelligent four-wheel-drive system. The inclusion of xDrive ensures not only optimized traction and vehicle stability in all road and weather conditions, but increased vehicle dynamics when taking bends at higher speeds, and optimal acceleration. The 220d xDrive Coupé will boast 192ps, 400Nm of torque, can sprint to 100km/h in 6.9 seconds, and continue on to a top speed of 224km/h. Combined fuel consumption is 4.5l/100km, with CO2 emissions of 119g/km.
