Polestar, the now in-house performance arm of Swedish manufacturer Volvo, has released details of its latest ‘Polestar Performance Optimisation’ packages for the Volvo XC90 T8 Twin Engine.
The Polestar revisions increase performance figures to 421hp and 680Nm – this breaks down to a split of 334hp and 87hp, as well as 440Nm and 240Nm between the IC engine and electric motor. This allows the car to achieve performance figu0-100km/h in 5.5 seconds, while economy figures remain unchanged, at 2.1l/100km and 43km of pure electric range.
The ‘Polestar Performance Optimisation’ aims to improve the entire drivetrain in ‘five key areas’ of throttle response, gearshift hold, speed and precision, as well as overall engine performance.
“Just a week after the introduction of the S90 and V90 optimization, we move forward by launching our optimization for the exciting and technically advanced XC90 T8 Twin Engine. This gives customers who want a new level of driving pleasure with their XC90 an easily accessible and attractive performance increase,” said Niels Möller, chief operating officer of Polestar.
One of the main features of the new package that Polestar is keen to promote is the gear hold functionality that holds the selected gear during cornering at high lateral g-forces. By holding on to the gear, rather than up or downshift, the balance of the car remains settled, improving overall stability.
