Liechtenstein-based EV manufacturer NanoFlowcell has revealed that its low-voltage Quantino EV has been granted a road licence for Europe.
The company will carry out public testing of its prototypes with a view to a limited production run later this year.
The 3.9-meter, 1,420kg car has a rated voltage of just 48V, but generates 80kW between four motors and accelerates from 0-100km/h in less than five seconds.
NanoFlowcell says that its low voltage setup offers a greater range and minimizes the danger of electric shocks that can be caused by high-voltage systems.
The flow cell batteries that power the Quantino use ionic liquids to create the charge, which NanoFlowcell says causes zero emissions and is ecologically friendly.
Two 175-liter tanks store the ionic liquid on board the car for a claimed 1,000km range which the company says will be confirmed during the new road-testing process.
