Volkswagen has announced it is to expand the range of engines currently available in its all-new Tiguan. The range is to gain the 220ps 2.0 TSI engine from the Golf GTI and VW’s new 240ps 2.0 TDI biturbo.
The new biturbo, a four-cylinder turbodiesel direct-injection engine, enables the Tiguan to achieve the 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 228 km/h. Its maximum torque of 500Nm, available between 1,750 and 2,500 rpm, is transferred to the road via the 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DSG) and 4Motion all-wheel drive. The top TDI consumes an average of just 6.4l/ 100 km, and produces CO2 emissions of 167g/km.
The 2.0 TSI engine with 220ps also promises increased dynamic performance. Familiar from the Golf GTI, it now also gives the Tiguan a sporty character. With this engine the Tiguan accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 6.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 220km/h. The maximum torque of 350Nm is available between 1,500 and 4,000rpm. The 2.0 TSI will also be offered with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DSG) and 4Motion all-wheel drive as standard.
